This project aims to enrich the local community spirit and support mental wellbeing by providing a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds and ages to come together on an equal basis. It serves as a hub for social interaction, connection, and support within the rural Staffordshire area.

History

In November of 2023, the Coffee Connect Project visited Stramshall Village Hall as part of its effort to reach more rural areas in Staffordshire. This event marked the launch of Warm Spaces, attracting over 30 attendees to the inaugural weekly coffee morning and significantly strengthening community bonds. The Warm Space Initiative was funded by the ESBC Warm Space grant, the initiative launched in November 2023 and continued until March 2024. With the connection built through the coffee connect project Trent & Dove contributed a Jubilee bench to the village hall, enhancing communal gathering spaces and promoting outdoor relaxation and interaction. Following the successful implementation of the Warm Space Initiative, Stramshall Village Committee were seeking funding from the T&D Community Grant to further support their community initiatives.

Grant Awarded

Recognising the impact of Warm Spaces, the village hall committee sought additional funding to sustain the initiative. Trent & Dove responded by increasing their grant from £570 to £1,000, ensuring the program's continuation and extended reach within the community. The grant facilitated a safe and welcoming environment for villagers to gather, fostering connections and alleviating isolation, especially considering the challenges of increased living costs.

Impact and Benefits

The increased funding has enabled the Warm Spaces program to continue, providing ongoing support and opportunities for community engagement. Villagers have expressed gratitude for the chance to socialise and connect within their local community, particularly appreciating the convenience and inclusivity of the village hall setting. For some, the program offers a much-needed respite from caregiving responsibilities, fostering a sense of belonging and support.

Stramshall Village Hall has become a place where individuals from all walks of life feel valued and embraced, whether they come alone or with loved ones. The warm and inviting atmosphere encourages meaningful connections and strengthens community bonds.
