We have welcomed two new Board members whose widespread skillset will ensure this organisation continues making a real difference to our residents’ lives.
Colum Goodchild and Grant Mitchell have just successfully completed their induction and onboarding, and bring a wealth of expertise in asset management, development and community regeneration to us.
Mr Goodchild, a former senior manager at National Grid and Cadent, oversaw investment programmes worth £600 million annually. Now Director of Strategic Advisory Services at environmental consultancy, Aqua Consultants, he aims to apply his expertise to enhance our housing stock, focusing on energy efficiency and future-proofing homes.
He said:
“If we’re building new homes, we must make the right decisions now to meet both today’s and future generations' needs.”
“We think about the future, challenges, and support, but we are part of something making a massive impact. The homes we provide allow people a safe space to grow families and make a difference in the world.”

Mr Goodchild is also a member of our Customer Committee which enables him to hear customer views, insight and feedback directly, and share these with the Board to shape its decision-making in support of its Customer Voice approach.
With over 30 years’ experience in housing, planning, and regeneration, Grant Mitchell serves as Assistant Director of Enterprise and Growth at South Staffordshire Council. His background in economic development and place-based leadership aligns closely with our mission.
He said:
“Trent & Dove is deeply rooted in the communities it serves. It is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about creating lasting communities and ensuring people have a roof over their heads and the support to stay there.”
Mr Mitchell also sits on our Audit Risk and Assurance Committee, helping oversee risk management and ensure the organisation’s stability.
