St. Chad's Community Centre serves as a vital hub for social interaction and support within the local community in Eton. One of the initial points of contact for community members is the monthly lunches organised, which have been running successfully for nearly a year. Through the continued activities within the community centre, it became evident that there was a need for increased safety measures, particularly the installation of an emergency door in the centre.

The Door Project

Recognising the importance of ensuring the safety and security of all community members, St. Chad's applied for funding to install a new emergency door. The necessity for this door arose from the need to comply with safety regulations and to provide a swift exit in case of emergencies. The application for funding aimed to address this critical safety concern and enhance the overall functionality of the community centre.

The installation of the emergency door was crucial for several reasons:

Safety Compliance: To meet safety regulations and standards for public buildings, ensuring the protection and well-being of all occupants.

Emergency Preparedness: To provide a designated exit point in case of emergencies such as fires or other unforeseen incidents, enabling swift and safe evacuation.

Accessibility: To enhance accessibility for community members, including those with mobility challenges, by providing an additional point of entry and exit.

Grant Awarded

The grant application for the emergency fire door installation received approval from the grant panel receiving £2,000, demonstrating recognition of the project's importance and impact on community safety. The decision to provide funding for the project reflects the panel's commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being and security of local residents.
