Residents shaping the future of £21.3 million Tyldesley Court development

Members of the over 55s community have had their chance to choose the design of the kitchens on our £21.3 million housing development in Burton town centre.

As part of our mission to Transform Homes, Lives, and Communities, we are keen to engage the local community and invite them to shape the future of our ongoing Tyldesley Court scheme.

As part of this proactive approach, we recently hosted our first public event showcasing the latest plans for this development.

Around 70 community members, who registered their interest on our Tyldesley Court webpage, attended the drop-in session at Meadowside Leisure Centre, in Burton, to learn more about the ongoing development and choose the final design of the kitchens.

Attendees were encouraged to vote for their favourites from a selection of six kitchen designs. Two kitchen designs and handle options were particularly popular and will form the final layout.

Guests also enjoyed viewing artist impressions and the latest floor plans, gaining valuable insight into the ongoing independent living development.

Trent & Dove colleagues also addressed enquiries related to the lettings and allocations process.

Tyldesley Court, which is being built by developer Morro, will consist of 72 high-quality independent living apartments for over 55s and ten three-bed family homes all for rent.

Homes England is supporting the build with grant funding via our strategic partnership with Orbit Group. The development is set for completion next summer.

Tyldesley Court is famously the site of the former Bargates Shopping Centre, which was demolished in 2012 and lay empty for 10 years until we took ownership.

We installed 198 metres of hoarding, which showcases the history of the land, during the construction phase.

Head of Supported Housing at Trent & Dove, Emma Robinson, said:

"We’re thrilled to see so much enthusiasm and support from the local community for the Tyldesley Court development.

“As part of our approach to transforming our communities, we are delighted to see residents actively shaping the design of these high-quality homes which will support our over 55s community and their families.

“By listening to their feedback, we ensure that we build a community that our residents can be proud of and that truly reflects their needs and aspirations.”

Members of the public who have not yet registered their interest in the scheme are invited to do so by signing up to the Tyldesley Court webpage here: https://www.trentanddove.org/tyldesleycourt

This does not guarantee an offer for a home. However, this will mean they receive email updates from us in relation to the next steps including dates for our future founders’ groups.
