Tea & Tots is a cherished toddler group operated by dedicated volunteers at East Staffs Children Centre/Hill St and Woodville Centres, serving families in both Hill St and Woodville communities. The group provides a vital space for parents and young children to connect, play, and learn together. Recently, concerns arose regarding the rising costs associated with running the group, prompting a search for funding to ensure its continued success.

Funding Needs

The initial point of contact with Tea & Tots occurred during a community event, where a staff member from the Community Engagement team conversed with lead volunteer, Charlaine. It became apparent that the group was facing financial challenges due to increasing operational costs.

To address this issue, the group sought funding to subsidise these rising costs, particularly to prevent passing them on to participating families. Additionally, funds were needed to cover insurance expenses, ensuring the group could operate seamlessly even during school holidays. Furthermore, there was a desire to enhance the sensory experience for children by acquiring new sensory toys.

Grant Awarded

Tea & Tots successfully secured funding of £2,000 from the Community Project Funding initiative, demonstrating the grant panel's recognition of the group's importance to the community. The grant not only alleviated financial pressures but also enabled the group to enhance its offerings, including the acquisition of sensory toys to enrich the children's experiences. This support ensures the continued operation of Tea & Tots, benefiting countless families in the Hill St and Woodville communities.

Tea & Tots exemplifies the power of grassroots initiatives in supporting early childhood development and fostering community connections. Through the assistance of a Trent & Dove Community Grant , the group can continue its invaluable work, providing a nurturing space for families to thrive and grow together.
